The latest goings-on at Cable & Cotton
Mixed metallics Christmas tree
For many homes across Britain, decorating the Christmas tree is a family affair. Not in our house. Oh no, when it’s time to decorate the tree, my gracious partner tends to make other plans – leaving me alone to contemplate and calculate every careful placement of baubles and garland to create something beautiful. Yes, you can just call me ‘Monica’ from Friends but for me, it’s a once a year ritual to clear the chairs that normally reside in front of the bay window and give the tree that prized place in our home. And it’s only fitting that I give it the special attention it deserves. Besides, I put some Christmas music on and rock around my Christmas tree for a few hours – by the time he gets back home, the tree is fully decorated and we snuggle in on the sofa for some great Christmas films. That’s our tradition and it works for us! This year, I decided to use Cable & Cotton’s Christmas limited edition lights – a beautiful string of delicately metallic silver and gold balls which perfectly matched my theme for this year. I love the look of mixed metallics and it’s a real growing trend, mixing warm and cool metals for an interesting look. On our flocked tree, the lights just glow beautifully, even in the day time with their metallic strand s glistening against the ‘snowy’ backdrop. Combined with gold and white baubles and decorations, it really brings our tree to life. It’s in the evening when the lights really come int o their own. Softly glowing orbs and twinkling lights create a warm and inviting ambiance which is really what Christmas is all about. Of course, I could have used it in my Christmas déc or in other ways – wrapped around garlands, draped along chairs slung with a comfy throw to light up a corner or even hanging from a window. There are so many options for this stunning metallic combination but for now, my Christmas tree has become the ‘star’ of my home. Do you have any family traditions for decorating the tree? Or are you a bit of a ‘Monica’ too? I’d love to hear from you! The lights featured in these images can be viewed and purchased here.
